TRANSPORTATION ANALYST (SUPPLY CHAIN)

Objectives of the position:

       This position is responsible for supporting the Global Transportation Management by providing analytical support on Transportation bids and RFQ’s, on-going contract and carrier allocation updates, as well as, producing transportation forecasts and financials, and maintaining rate database. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide analytical support to execute transportation and logistics services bids and RFQ’s.
  • Compile and analyze historical shipping information to monitor trends, calculate transportation forecast based on business inputs, and help develop bid packages.
  • Conduct analysis for pricing results and optimization scenarios. Prepare management reports on Bid results. 
  • Provide analysis of current transportation and operations practices to determine and address process and cost improvement opportunities, as well as, tracking and reporting transportation cost savings.
  • Provide the necessary freight analysis and decision support systems for business.
  • Update rates as needed with contract carriers and brokers.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reporting to support freight accruals and other journal entries.
  • Maintain and review transportation requirements and policies documented.
  • Work with BI Logistics Analyst to develop, format and publish weekly and monthly Key Performance Indicators related to freight and freight related services.
  • Create carrier performance report cards for business review meetings to discuss past carrier performance and future expectations.
  • Analyze and identify optimal transportation and logistics routings for all modes of transportation.
  • Provide administrative support for parcel carrier system setup and account code management.
  • Effectively communicate daily and as needed operational updates with internal and external global supply chain partners.
  • Act as a back-up to the Transportation manager attending meetings, conference calls, and overall acting as a representative of the department as needed.
  • Develop self through classes, seminars, and/or organizational events in order to stay current in a global logistics environment and regulations.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with preference in Supply Chain management and/or Logistics.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in similar positions.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and data analytical tools (Advanced Microsoft Suite skills).
  • Knowledge of all transportation modes and pricing structures.
  • Experience in logistics, transportation, customs, international trade, manufacturing, and/or distribution.
  • Experience with exporting and/or importing via various ports of entry and modes of transportation.
  • Experience with global transportation providers.
  • Experience using Supply Chain systems (SAP and Infor Nexus), Bid tools and applications (plus).
  • Transportation Management software preferred.
  • English
  • Availability to work in Heredia.
