Manager- Commercial Process / Billing

Job Description

The Commercial Operations Process team is focused on driving improvement to Commercial Group processes based on Lean Six Sigma and Agile to enhance the customer experience, drive consistent performance and enable efficiencies across the Commercial Group.

The individual will be measured on their support in the successful implementation of specific initiatives and the increase in operational and control effectiveness. The role works closely across departments in the global Commercial Group with an emphasis on the Moody’s Investors Service Billing function and all related functions to simplify and improve processes and enhance controls.

The Customer Billing team is responsible to deliver a high-quality invoicing service to MIS customers and provide key business partners with the data needed to develop successful strategies. The function has direct impacts on the organization’s financial results, including revenue recognition, regulatory/ financial reporting.

Under the direct supervision of the Commercial Operations Process Leads, and work on projects and BAU activities in support of data analysis, improvement in execution and controls, employing Agile and Lean 6 Sigma principles.

Role/Responsibilities

Contribute to the development, maintenance, and operation of a sustainable and modern pricing, quoting, and billing system.

Facilitate and lead efforts to improve efficiency using Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Measure process performance and prioritize solutions to address these issues, finding opportunities for improvement and reducing low-value tasks.

Build and maintain documentation, dashboards, and reports to ensure accurate and reliable process and control information.

Develop strong relationships with internal collaborators, emphasizing effective communication and teamwork.; Liaise with other relevant teams like Relationship Management, Pricing and Ratings, and Finance to achieve efficiencies in the Commercial/Billing processes.

Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures by understanding key controls, risks, and compensating controls within the process flows. Monitor control processes to ensure they are functioning as intended.

Represent the Moody’s Investors Service Customer Billing team in relevant internal meetings.

Hand off ownership of newly designed specific processes to process leads.

Capture, review, and analyze business data and reports from various sources; like KPIs, process performance measurements, and other indicators, to measure and report process performance.

Support the rollout of new and revised business process as needed and by assisting in the review and update of Operational Guidelines, data, metrics, and controls.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics or Engineering background. Master’s degree a plus.
4+ years of working experience with a proven background in Project Management, Process Management or Finance Operations.
B2 or higher English language proficiency.
Exposure to and/or knowledge of the role and function of Rating Agencies a plus.
Preferably certified in Yellow Belt in Six Sigma or higher

Proven track record to optimally compile and compare disparate pieces of information to support decision-making.
Completes work tasks efficiently and effectively, adjusts quickly to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change. Demonstrates resilience in the face of adversity.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications, with medium to sophisticated Excel skills. Familiarity with CRM, process charting applications, and Business Intelligence tools.
Curious, resourceful, thinks critically, fully explores problems and/or opportunities and proactively provides recommendations and solutions backed by data.
Exercises sound judgment and can articulate their own views.
Results oriented and focused on results, bringing issues to a timely closure.
