A Data Asset Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing the organization, storage, retrieval, and distribution of digital assets and data-related resources within an organization. This role involves maintaining a centralized repository, attaching relevant metadata for effective search and categorization, ensuring data privacy and security, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Data Asset Managers facilitate seamless access to their assets, optimize their usage through proper version control and metadata management, and support efficient workflows for operations, marketing, and data-driven projects. Their skills encompass technical proficiency, metadata management, organization, communication, continuous learning, and a deep understanding of data management principles. Overall, Data Asset Managers play a vital role in maximizing the value of an organization’s digital assets while ensuring accurate, controlled, and accessible data management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Management Knowledge: A solid understanding of data management principles, including data organization, metadata management, data governance, and data lifecycle management.

  • Data Sufficiency: Assess the data sufficiency and readiness to be incorporated and to meet business objectives. Awareness of copyright laws, licensing agreements, and intellectual property rights related to digital assets.

  • Data Purchase/Acquisition:  Partner with purchases to ensure proper data management practices are reflected in data contracts

  • Data Quality: Establish business and validation rules that define data quality. Alignment with Data Source owners, data stewards and business to guarantee the right definition of quality across data life cycle – starting from data ingestion, thru data processing/harmonization up to data activation.

  • Data Standards: Establish and maintain data standards and data catalog for local Master Data.

  • Data Activation, Security & Stewardship: Sets success criteria and quality controls for data activities in scope. Establish accurate archival, retention, privacy policies per data type, notably with regards to Data Type Security Requirements and in alignment with overall security policies.

  • Continuous Learning: The field of data management and digital asset management is constantly evolving. Being open to learning new tools and techniques is essential.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Management Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field

  • 2+ years of experience with Data Governance/Data Management in a corporate, IT, data related roles, notably with regards to Data Quality.

  • English B2+

  • Understand business decisions and value expected from the data

  • Data Base management and technology understanding

  • Service Operations: foundational understanding of requirements to deliver operational excellence, including change management

  • Leadership skills in terms of ability to influence internally and externally and build beneficial partnerships within P&G’s Data Science, Programmatic, Data Engineering and key externals

  • Communication up and down the organization, internal to P&G and externally. Service Operations: foundational understanding of requirements to deliver operational excellence, including Change Management.

  • Autonomous to be self-paced and deliver in timing, based on business need / priority.
